Here’s a picture of our old homestead. We had three main sections:
- 15′ x 30′ Garden (foreground): This was surrounded by cattle fencing, which gave us something to tie tomato plants to and penned in the turkeys during the offseason.
- Greenhouse (back left): We used this for starting plants, but were pining away for something that could give us crops all year long.
- 8′ x 8′ Chicken Coop (far back right) and 10′ x 30′ Chicken yard: At the high water mark, this housed about 20 chickens, 6 ducks, and 2 geese. The coop and the yard were connected by a “chunnel” that restricted access to chickens and ducks.
We just bought a new home with over 3 acres, which is a huge upgrade for us. All the above will at least be tripled in size.
